Green smoothie recipes are essentially fruit smoothies that have an added twist, namely the addition of healthy greens such as kale, spinach, and chard just to name a few. These have become increasingly popluar due to the fact that you can make them fairly easily throughout the year by using frozen produce. They allow you to get added nutrients, vitamins and minerals that you would otherwise miss if you only drank a mostly fruit smoothie. They also happen to be loaded with fiber, and the greens are emulsified to such an extant that the nutrients are much more readily absorbed by the digestive system, much more so then eating a simple salad for example, or even a bunch of salads throughout the day!
Now there are a number of ways that you can go about actually making one of these delicious but healthy drinks, but generally you will want to start out using more fruit then greens and slowly get yourself used to getting more greens into your smoothie, and over time you will want to have more greens then fruit proportionally in your smoothie to make them extra healthy! I like to make these smoothies a number of ways, but here is a delicious recipe to get you going!
