When it comes to making smoothie recipes for kids, you need to make sure you are only using the best ingreedients but also ingredients that are economical as well for the working single parent or low income family, of which there are many these days. So my advice is to use mostly frozen fruit and fresh fruit that is on sale and inseason. This way you are able to buy organic without breaking the bank, and you definitely want to stick with organic because these fruits and veggies taste better, and do not have nasty toxins or pesticides on them which you don't want to feed your family, and expecially your children.

So one of my favorite ways of getting more nutrition into a childs diet is to include more greens into there smoothies, this can be done by using a fairly nuetral tasting green like spinach and blending it along with some low calorie but nutrient dense fruits like berries. Theseare known as "green smoothies" and the fruit helps to mask the flavor of the greens so that even your children won't know they are drinking healthy stuff unless you tell them! You can further mask the color of the greens by using lots of grapes or blueberries and other dark fruits to turn it a dark purple or blue. Here is a simple but tasty fruit smoothie recipe to get you going!
